Produced by Hydra Films Inc
The Canadian Ethnic Media Association (CEMA) proudly presents the 42nd Annual Awards for Journalistic Excellence. Undaunted by the challenges imposed by the Coronavirus: Covid-19, which rendered the traditional Awards reception/dinner format impossible, CEMA showcases this year’s Winners in their first-ever virtual presentation right here on our website, originally airing Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 8 p.m. EST.

This shiny, new webcast production, hosted by Angie Seth, Anchor of CTV News Channel, Toronto; and well-known Edmonton broadcaster, Stacey Brotzel, is an east-west elbow bump salute to the national scope and importance of CEMA’s long-standing charter members, and to all of Canada’s ethnic media.

Yee Hong Dragon Ball 2021

Yee Hong Dragon Ball 2021

The Dragon Ball is the annual benefit gala for Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation. Combining philanthropy with the celebration of Chinese New Year, Dragon Ball has maintained its position as one of Toronto’s most anticipated events and the largest Chinese New Year celebration of its kind in North America for the last three decades.

The 32nd annual Dragon Ball, the signature fundraising gala of Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation live-streamed on February 13, 2021, was a tremendous success. An incredible amount of over $700,000 was raised in support of senior care at four Yee Hong centres and the construction of three new long-term care homes.

Due to the safety concerns surrounding COVID-19, Yee Hong moved this year’s Dragon Ball online, hosting a virtual gala through multiple platforms. Over 13,000 views were recorded on Facebook and YouTube.

The funds raised help support the culturally and language appropriate care and services provided by Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care to seniors of various ethnic backgrounds in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
